Plovdiv Branch of Sofia Technical University was established in Plovdiv in 1986 and has three faculties: Faculty of Electronics and Automation (FEA), Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (FME) and Technical College "John Atanasoff"
By decision of the Council of Ministers the Branch became an independent juridical entity in 1990.
The classrooms and laboratories are located in four buildings. A computer network has been installed providing access to quick Internet. The Branch has a rich library, two well-equipped canteens and a hostel accommodating five hundred students.
